L.A.’s Paige Stark follows up one of our favorite songs of last year (her heartbreaker of a debut single “Albatross”) with another lovely track from her as-yet-untitled debut LP, coming this summer. “Depression Song” is warm and unhurried, settling into that perfect balance between poignant and wry, a timeless pop song in the classic West Coast tradition — think Harry Nilsson, Jon Brion (who collaborated with Stark on the song), Laurel Canyon in the early '70s, etc. — and the self-directed video finds Paige cruising/wandering around various familiar spots in her hometown, nicely complementing the song's bittersweet, sentimental vibe.
