Nestled between San Francisco and the notorious Alcatraz lives Treasure Island. A bit haunted with history in its own right, for the past eight years it's become home to the Treasure Island Music Festival. Steeped in a fog that continually rolls throughout the day, a sea salt whispered haze illuminated the thousands crowding the tiny space. And though the San Francisco music scene has arguably transformed since the festival's inception, what continues to thrive is the spirit that inspires all who come to make art in the city by the bay. Intimate, curated and sincere. — Claire McKinzie
The annual Los Angeles-based FYF Fest was humble in size, sweet and yet progressively cool -- like Coachella's little sister that borrowed its clothes. We got to spend the day hopping to shows, eating colored popsicles, and thanking the universe we'd worn proper shoes. All the while getting to hang with the bands that make the heat worth it. Between finding abandoned kitchen sinks with Toro y Moi or snapping shots next to Morrissey's "Vegan" crew vans with Neon Indian — Fuck Yeah Fest didn't disappoint. // photos + words by Claire McKinzie

Still basking in the afterglow of both amazing, sold-out Gorilla vs. Bear V shows in Dallas + Austin, and one the most memorable and magical weekends of our lives. Massive thanks to Jamie xx, Lower Dens, Tei Shi, Bop English, Yumi Zouma, Prince Innocence, DJ Sober, and of course, everyone at the Granada, the Mohawk, and Transmission for making it happen. Can't wait to do it again next year. Live shots by the great Bill Ellison + more polaroids after the jump...
