Forgive me raining on the Rey parade, but does anyone else find her videos annoying?
There is always talking over the top from the stock video filler footage they mix in with the footage of her singing. The production costs on these things must be virtually zero.
That being said, her voice and songs are amazing. But the videos do nothing for me and I don’t say that often about a woman who is very easy on the eyes.
The production costs are virtually zero because she makes the videos herself. And I think the style of them says something about arriving into fame in our youtube generation.
I think that the persona she is trying to create for herself and the sound she is trying to embody fits perfectly with all the clips of fuzzy footage. And when she stares doe-eyed in the camera, to me it almost seems like some sort of commentary on or glorification of people today self-publishing their thoughts through small, low-quality webcams on laptops.
To me it makes all her words and images even more genuine and that much more alluring.

She’s def got a brand of emotive and big music that seems to be coagulating quite well. Totally diggable. I want more!
regarding above, i don’t understand how “zero” production costs are a a minus. Her videos may not be everything they could be, but they certainly go far to convey artistic expansion into a broad cultural and historical landscape.
I like the videos. I also like that they are carry the same theme that compliments her music. Just my two cents.

the lyrics are far less cheesy than video games. but the video is the same shit. montage/gazing longingly into the camera/montage. catchy as fuck though.

I think the lyrics of video games are a little misconstrued, as the song is called video games, and the subject matter is something of a perfect submissive female relationship. It’s more about how that sort of relationship only happens in our fantasies, if you listen to where she places video games through the course of the song, you’ll see what I mean. Otherwise, I was fighting it for awhile, but this lady is a lovely songstress. I actually appreciate her collage videos, as it not only compliments her “old” aesthetics, but gives her an artistic flourish without being pretentious. I’m looking forward to hearing more from her.

i like the part a 2:45 when she brushes her hair back and then picks up the song a moment later. Tyler the Creator does the same thing in one of his videos. Something about that gets me.
But this Lana Del Rey is making some cool music. I think Diet Mtn Dew is my favorite. I don’t know if she’ll break extra big but she’s definitely on the way.
