Washed Out shares a vintage, surf-y deep cut from the High Times sessions. "Don't Wanna" is one of four previously unreleased bonus tracks that will appear on the reissue of the 2009 chillwave classic, out November 5th. Listen below, and pre-order on colored vinyl here.
As you can probably tell, I’m pretty into weird, obscure collage-based art and this is another great example. This work is from a super-rare art book by the leader of Japanese noise band Boredoms. It reminds me a lot of Bjorn Copeland’s work (of Black Dice fame) which I also love. Pure chaos, using anything and everything for source material. -- Washed Out
I got really into old art films and experimental animation while putting together the visuals for the new album and this was one of my favorite discoveries. It’s made from hundreds (or thousands!) of magazine cut-outs meticulously assembled together to paint a picture of the psyche of the artist that made it...
I’ve loved this album for a long time. I love the messiness of it - you really get the sense that it was DIY project. I was lucky enough to inherit an archived collection of .mp3s from the site and this song was one of the big highlights for me. I love playing it out DJing - its so infectious and weird and the half-time groove that happens with the beat comes-in makes it so funky...
Anyone looking for some solid background listening should check out all of the bootlegged DJ Screw mixtapes uploaded to youtube. I love to just have them playing in the morning when I’m working on email or cleaning up my studio. Its almost like how ambient music works for me - just let it wash over you. (Enjoy with or without a double cup of lean haha…) -- Washed Out
