Ariel Pink takeover: Cane Toads: An Unnatural History

Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 9.18.33 PM

Frogs were omnipresent throughout the making of Pom Pom and so too in life where I come from. 'Cane Toads' depicts the everyday horror of life in Australia with frogs. It's hard to imagine what growing up with wildlife such as Kangaroos, Drop Bears and Toads almost breathing down your neck was like, but in this Ozploitaition classic it's quite accurately dramatized...

Eleventeen Eston – Two Stroke Vertical Climb

ELEVENTEEN ESTON

"Perth fantasy windsurfer" Eleventeen Eston drops his debut Delta Horizon cassette, sounding "like the soundtrack to some mythically faded new wave instructional hang gliding video" (an aside: Britt from Not Not Fun writes the best album bios around)...

Movement – Ivory

MOVEMENT

Sydney's Movement drops what is probably their best song yet (although "Like Lust" continues to creep on us in the best way) in the spectral/sexy new track "Ivory". An almost ominous, Holy Other-esque vibe to this one, aside from the shredding there at the end...

Tame Impala x Outkast – “Prototype”

OUTKAST PROTOTYPE

Normally I'd consider Andre 3000 untouchable as far as covers like this go, but I'm posting this for a couple of reasons: first, Tame Impala kind of holds their own with their spacey, straightforward/reverential take on the song, and also I'd forgotten that there was a video for the original, it's amazing, and it somehow has less than 2000 views despite being on the official Outkast channel:

video: Beaches – “Send Them Away”

BEACHES SEND THEM AWAY

Directed by Ben Montero / edited by Rosie Adams. Beaches' She Beats LP is out May 3 on Chapter Music.
