Channel Tres is back with his first single of 2019, and this one might be his sickest track yet, which is high praise when we're talking about the man responsible for such ineffable bangers as "Topdown", "Controller", and "Jet Black". A press release calls "Brilliant Nigga", which is out today on Godmode, "an ode to a new kind of black exceptionalism, with shades of deep house, West Coast rap, 60s Blue Note, and dub mixing techniques." It's a blissful fusion, as the track rides an irresistible funked-out groove, with immaculate production from Channel Tres + Nick Sylvester, who I assume are rocking some next-level magic on the intellijel here -- a wavy synthesized flute flits around that insanely filthy bassline -- bolstered by Channel's inimitably smooth baritone. It's one of the most glorious things we've heard this year, and you can listen below:
