London’s Charli XCX and her tiny goth girl-gang star in the new Dawn Shadforth-directed video for one of our favorite pop singles of the year, a clip that Charli has called “the perfect representation of who I am as an artist.” The You’re The One EP is out now on L.A.’s IAMSOUND.
In other news, catch Charli on the cover of the new issue of V with Grimes, and if you’re sleeping on her perfect (and free) Heartbreaks & Earthquakes mixtape, fix that here.

Usually I’m a fan of her, but this song sounds terrible. It sounds a tad better than Katie Perry, which isn’t a good sign.
Britney Spears’ Toxic goes harder than this.
so what Toxic goes harder than a lot of songs
Really?
Didn’t you get the memo? All the cool kids are unironically embracing the music of their tween years.
Toxic is widely considered classic pop music, especially in underground circles, for whatever reason. I guess because it’s quality pop music.
Hey, look, a Charlie XCX video premiered on GvB!
I listened to Nuclear Seasons for like the 1000th time today but I still haven’t wanted to listen to this song since the 1st time I heard it. You’re doing an incredible service Chris but sometimes even artists we love make shitty songs.
Yeah, that chorus is fuckballs levels of fail. I really like the beginning, and then that chorus, ‘thing’ if you will, comes in and you can see she has conflated vulnerability with being saccharine. That said, still love Charlie XCX, just not this song.
Love the grunge revival look Charlie XCX has going on here.
Say what you want about the song. The video is stylistically beautiful. Love the searchlight effect. Love the empty warehouse setting–Charli got her start at London warehouse parties, so this is her going back to her roots in the best possible way.
