Strangely enough, the cheerleaders is this video are spelling out: “Give me a C … A — N — T — A — L — I — N — I!!!” And in GvB’s dreams they all have Claire’s face, moving in slo-mo like “American Beauty”. ;)

One of the most exciting things about Visions is how Claire has said she aims to shoot music videos for /all/ the songs. In the Pitchfork video from when Visions was released it was mentioned that they were working on shooting the sixth video already. Can’t wait to see them all.

what is it with indie musics’ obsession with teeny, tiny, little lunged, high-pitched fragile girls? i feel like GvsB has been pushing this movement HARD.
what. who else who else falls into this “movement”? we’ve been posting about grimes for 2 years

You REALLY have no idea what i’m talking about? Whatever. First page alone I see Nite Jewel, Tops, Memoryhouse and Grimes. All dreamy, soft-spoken, little lunged damsels in distress who it seems tend to not play any instruments but know how to work their unkempt hair pretty well.
Just feels like you guys are catering to this type of audience a bit more than before. It’s like whoever posts on the website got hit with a guitar over the head and never wants to hear one ring ever again.
Chris: “fukk guitars! From now on, only cheap 80’s keyboard effeminate players with high-pitched unaggressive entitled chicks for vocalist will get plugged! that’s that!”
dude are you new around here? i’ve been posting about all of those artists for years

It is you guys who put all the hard work in. *sigh* I suppose rather then realizing that the choices of music that pop up here are not for Hyacinth, he/she would prefer to stick on this site even though your tastes differ…

oh yes hyacinth tell us, get real english class with us, were just internet zombies. you are so enlightened.
I honestly can’t say who I would pick for a favorite artist right now besides Grimes. I have been following her since GvB started posting about her a long time ago, at least since 2010, and I probably wouldn’t even know about her without this site. However, this site also hosts plenty of stuff I find totally unappealing, but I’m pretty OK with that. Why do so many people only want this (and other) websites to tout musicians that are only in line with there personal tastes!? It is truly exasperating to hear so many people complaining about there being ‘another Grimes post.’ Please just shut the fuck up. Clearly Chris and whoever else runs this website love her music and want to promote her, so just get over it. They aren’t not going to post the video for Oblivion!
Mainly, I want to say that this is such a fantastic pop song. Everything about it rules, and this was a great video to go along with it. It is clear from the footage that Claire is not a damsel in distress, but actually something entirely different. Halfaxa stands as the stronger album for me, still–though I do acknowledge that on many tracks from Visions her pop sensibilities have gelled really well, and thus it features her best tracks, of which Oblivion is truly the standout. It should be radio hit really, imo.

@Hyacinth and whoever else wants to make a false and stupid comment
Been listening to GvB since it was first introduced to me on Sirius Blog Radio back around 2006 or so. GvB has always been one of if not the best blog at being first to introduce all kind of artists of various genres. I’ve been introduced to bands/groups in genres (“hip-hop/rap” and electronica etc) that I had always been close minded towards in the past. And then I’ve also been introduced to bands/groups in genres that I typically like more. GvB has featured White Denim, Tennis, Girls, among countless others that are more traditional “rock bands”. So your comment is absolutely absurd.
I’m glad that GvB is “pushing this movement of girl singers”. I’m so tired of people worshiping Lady Gaga, Adele, Christina Aguilera, etc. etc. I hate their voices- it doesnt sound feminine at all to me. I love Grimes, Desire, Chromatics, etc. So pretty- everytime I hear the vocals I melt and it brightens up my day no matter how bad it is. I love pretty female vocals.
If you truly feel that way, why waste time complaining about it. Go somewhere else. After following this site for over 5 years, I had never commented on a post but was inspired to after yours. I have been introduced to so many artists on this site whose music has affected my life in a positive way- from Panda Bear to Grimes to Shabazz Palaces to Liars to Voxtrot. Keep up the good work Chris! There are a ton of music sites I visit- brooklynvegan, MOKB, pitchfork, even EW music section but this will always be my favorite site.
I guess haters are gonna hate. I found this comment from best of 2006 ironic:
11. White Denim Let’s Talk About It mp3
This song still kicks my ass every time I hear it. Simple and raw, yet utterly infectious and powerful. This is dedicated to that dude from the comments yesterday that said I don’t like “rock music”.
I mean this is a blog, therefore at the end of the day its someone posting music they like and want to promote. Gorilla vs bear isn’t pitchfork, its not a big news site with dozens of writers. So if you dont like it leave!

The debate over whether or not to support Grimes is stupid. I heard Oblivion on XMU a while back and was immediately like “Ooo… another female singer indie guilty pleasure… nice.” I knew nothing about her, her background, her style, her image. It sounds good. People like music that sounds good. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. End of debate.
This chick is so cool. And this video blows my mind. If you’re interested in a full playlist of more awesome new music videos, I curate the best of the best to save you time and energy! Peace.
we were never .com, so obviously you haven’t been paying that much attention. also the artists you mention sound absolutely nothing like one another, other than the fact that they have female vocalists. your comments are showing your thinly veiled sexist attitudes though, really
