Not quite as good as the Primavera Sound bootleg from last week, but we get a webcast this time around, featuring all of Panda Bear’s tripped-out visuals from his set at this weekend’s Pitchfork Fest. Here are a couple Tomboy jams from the set, including the previously untitled, dubbed-out King Tubby-sampling epic that Collected Animals is calling “Alsatian Darn” (the b-side from Panda Bear’s next single on Domino):

Alsatian Darn is definitely my favourite so far!!!!
So good!!!!!
It was an interesting set. Picthfork fest as a whole felt like it lost energy for about two hours towards the late afternoon as a result of the heat and everyone just being burnt on the place. As a result panda bears set was literally him starting at ground zero as far as energy and attention was concerned. His set started slow which is why ive heard complaints both around me at the fest and on the internet. But in the end he hit sounds never before heard arranged in such a way and anyone who actually watched the visuals for long enough to let them get to you realized how incredible his set was at its highs.
True, he literally did come on at a point when the entire park seemed tired and lifeless. We found ourselves running from the portable toilets to the front of the stage as we heard the very first note of Panda’s set, and he took the empty energy and turned it into a powerful and moving performance. The only complaint I could possibly have is that he wasn’t headlining and so his act had to be cut short. Panda should play for 10+ hours, period.
sounds like the grateful dead’s space, which is (believe it or not… a good thing)
