A new live Panda Bear bootleg has surfaced, featuring easily the best versions we’ve heard of the new Tomboy jams so far, via what sounds like a soundboard recording from his Primavera Sound performance last month. Highlights of the set include an epically eerie untitled jam built on a King Tubby sample, as well as upcoming single b-side “Slow Motion,” and the massive football-crowd-as-tidal-wave sample on future LP track, “Benfica.”

This is amazing! “Tomboy” is going to rule EOY lists. Panda Bear/Animal Collective are doing for right now, what The Beatles did for the late 60’s and early 70’s.
i have a problem with this comment as it implies that what the beatles did was create good music for the late 60’s and early 70’s, and not just make REALLY overrated and rather shitty music

i totally agree will you, fuck that other guy thats nay-saying the Beatles. you’re totally alone on that one show me a record that can beat abbey road or feels and ill show you my middle finger and both my thumbs down cuz you’ll show me bullshit. animal collective is changing music like the beatles did, but not nearly as mainstream as the beatles were. its like the underground version of the beatles movement, but just as epic in my eyes because of my personal love for both of the bands.
there are hundreds of “better” records than abbey road and feels – too many to show. i agree animal collective and panda bear are making interesting music. but they are not as cutting edge as some people think. a lot of artists out there more relevant. again, too many to show!!!!!!!
Animal Collective are just making poppy versions of more creative music going on. To compare them to the Beatles is completely hyperbolic, and also to say they are “underground” is ridiculous. I agree they are opening a lot of people up to weirder music that they wouldn’t initially delve into but to say they are actually doing something new is an uninformed statement.

Animal Collective started my quest for interesting / lesser-known music. I had never heard anything like it before. Compare entertainment all you want, but this is music and music is art. The more your try to draw maps of artistic understanding the more nothing in this world will make sense. Enjoy it as you do. In regards to people bashing the beatles? Give me a break.
