We are excited to announce that we will be helping to present some shows this fall at our favorite venue in Detroit, El Club, in the city's vibrant Mexicantown neighborhood. We're kicking things off with the great U.S. Girls -- with support from Michael Rault and Detroit's own Double Winter -- on Labor Day (this Monday, September 3rd) at noon on El Club's beautiful outdoor patio...
Shout out to Meg Remy of U.S. Girls for introducing us to the diverse musical stylings of Tony Price when she took over the blog for a day a few months back. In addition to contributing production to In a Poem Unlimited and co-producing Ice Cream's sick new jams and Aurora Shields' dazzling debut single, Price is set to release his immersive and highly cinematic new solo LP Celica Absolu on June 1
We were introduced to Toronto duo Amanda Crist + Carlyn Bezic aka Ice Cream by Meg Remy of U.S. Girls when she took over this very site recently -- Bezic and Crist play in Darlene Shrugg with Remy, and Crist's voice can be heard on U.S. Girls' brilliant new record In a Poem Unlimited -- and we were immediately taken by the group's bizarre and highly infectious warped pop jams...
Polaroids from some of the best sets we saw in Austin this year, featuring U.S. Girls, Faye Webster, Hater, Forever + more. All photos by Patrick Waites on Polaroid Originals film.
I’m going to end my take over on a side note:
At the same time In a Poem Unlimited was in production, Darlene Shrugg (a rock band featuring myself and Poem vets Maximilian Turnbull & Amanda Crist as well as Simone Tisshaw-Baril & Carlyn Bezic) also made an album...
I met Tony on the same day I met Max and Louis (I need to look into just what the stars were doing that glorious day in 2010). Tony is the man behind ‘Navy & Cream’ from Half Free and contributed massive production detail to ‘Rosebud’ on In a Poem Unlimited...
One of my favorite things about In a Poem Unlimited is the variety of voices on it. Here is a song from each of the singers who contributed to the album. Each of these special people have many years of experience and plenty of releases behind (and ahead) of them. Use your preferred search engine and go down a rabbit hole! -- Meg Remy / U.S. Girls
