Images, the haunting forthcoming LP from Canadians Chuck Blazevic + Alice Hansen aka You'll Never Get To Heaven, is officially our favorite record of 2017 so far (apologies to Julie Byrne, Migos, Hater, Talaboman, RAMZi, Hand Habits, Sampha, etc)...
Canadian duo You'll Never Get To Heaven shares the intoxicating title track from the long-awaited follow up to their haunting 2014 EP Adorn. The group's new LP Images is out March 31st. Listen to the dreamy "Images" below + pre-order the record here.
Toronto's DIANA shares another classy-as-fuck jam from their forthcoming sophomore LP. Listen to "Confession" -- which the group describes as sounding like an imaginary Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Annie Lennox collab -- and look for the new record Familiar Touch to drop in November:
Thanks to our friend Kieran Adams of Toronto band DIANA for the heads up on this glowing new track that he produced for his Toronto homie Ivy Mairi. "All Around Me" is an airy, soft-focus gem that Ivy says is "a bit of a departure" from her folkier material, and she arrives at a very sweet spot on the pop spectrum, landing somewhere amid the silky, elegantly floating vocals of Jessy Lanza, vintage chillwave (RIP), and DIANA's woozier/dreamier jams...
Christie Sealey is one half of Orphx and Rich Oddie is the other. They are both from Hamilton. Christie and I share a studio where I do music and she has a painting studio. She is one of my best friends and (similar to Jason) is another synthesis wizard I have the fortune of being friends with. She has helped me with studio and software problems more times than I can count. -- Jessy Lanza
last new year’s eve I spent the night at a crystal journey’s performance and I think it had a profound effect on my outlook for the rest of the year. David Hickey (crystal journey) is from hamilton so if you’re here and if you get a chance to see him perform it will change your life -- Jessy Lanza
Jessy Lanza drops the second brilliant track her new album (and one of the many highlights from her set here in Dallas last week), the infectiously up-tempo, vintage dance-pop gem "VV Violence". Oh No is out in May on Hyperdub:
