A couple months back we posted up a "floating, intoxicatingly languid" breakup jam from Montreal artist June Moon, aka Forever, who makes up half of tropical house/paradise party duo Cafe Lanai. Not to be outdone, her bandmate in the group also makes sensual, intensely yearning slow-jams as Mind Bath, and will release his proper debut single this week on Cascine's singles imprint CSCN...
A few weeks late on this one, but this dreamily melancholy new mixtape from London, Ontario, duo You'll Never Get To Heaven has become our soothing, go-to late-night jam over the last couple of evenings. The group says the mix is made up of "moody, minimal and ambient selections, international in scope, mostly circa late 70s-mid 80s". The highlight though: they've also slipped a track from their forthcoming new LP (the follow-up to one of our favorite records of 2014) into the mix, and it's lovely. Download the mixtape below:
We mentioned the other day that Cindy Lee (Patrick Flegel, formerly of Women) had an extremely limited new cassette release out on Vancouver label Isolated Now Waves; that tape has since sold out, and the band is now giving the record away as a free download — along with their even better Act of Tenderness LP — over on their geocities page.
