Grand Rapids group Major Murphy follows up last summer's stellar On & Off Again EP with a beautifully heartfelt new ballad, out today on Winspear. "Mary" radiates a cozy, laid-back '70s AM gold vibe, with those easy, gorgeous harmonies, shimmering production, and timeless subject matter lending the song the feel of a lived-in classic. It's Major Murphy's warmest and most melodic song yet, and it's a promising glimpse of what's to come from the group in 2018. The band's Jacob Bullard says of the song's eponymous guiding light:

“Mary in this song represents innocence and naivety. The singer is in transit ("standing on a corner, standing on a line") and appeals to Mary to guide them through an unfair and complicated world.”
