We're psyched to debut the devastating opening track from Chthonic, the new full-length from Austin's Julia Lucille. Julia counts two of our favorites -- Alela Diane + Sibylle Baier -- among her biggest influences, and the stunning incantation "Eternally" is every bit as disarming and lovely as the most haunting gems in that ethereal dream-folk lineage. But there's also a dark, almost foreboding undercurrent here that lends the song a desolate, windswept vibe and an undeniable visceral allure that (not coincidentally) recalls last year's amazing Cross Record album, and inevitably sets the tone for the rest of the way. It's a sweeping, almost emotionally overwhelming intro to a beautiful record:

Chthonic was recorded in one of our favorite towns (Dripping Springs, TX) with Dan Duszynski + Emily Cross of Cross Record, and is due in April on Keeled Scales. Catch Julia Lucille at the Mohawk in Austin this Saturday with Molly Burch + Cross Record for Molly's album release show.
