Berlin-based group Meagre Martin won our hearts earlier this year with "All My Thoughts", a simple but incredibly sweet and life-affirming reflection on loss and grief that immediately became one of our favorite songs of the year. Today, we're thrilled to premiere another one from the band's wonderful, fittingly titled debut album Gut Punch, coming in November on Mansions & Millions. The band calls the gently rollicking "faux country" (their term) jammer "Please Clap", "a satirical take on the feelings of inadequacy," inspired by the idea of "using performance as a means of connection and a way to feel seen". It's another magical distillation of the band's effortless flair for turning these vulnerable and super relatable sentiments into poignant, ultimately cathartic songs that feel like low-key timeless anthems, thanks in large part to frontperson Sarah Martin's aching, dare we say Nicks-ian voice. Check the video by director Alessandra Corazzini below, pre-order Gut Punch on limited vinyl here + catch Meagre Martin live this fall supporting Alt-J.
