girlboss – “Mrs. Doubtfire”

Here's a wistful, gently jangly guitar pop gem from Wellington, New Zealand's girlboss, the new project of Lucy Botting from the late, great NZ group Wet Wings. It's unclear if the sweetly reassuring sentiments expressed in the lyrics -- "I know you're a good guy / I know you're a good dad / I never doubted you or your parenting abilities" -- are about someone Botting knows, or if they're literally about the the misunderstood Robin Williams character, but either way it's an unassuming, heartwarmingly earnest gem of a debut. Girlboss will play their first gig as a full band on September 1st in Wellington, opening for Yumi Zouma. Thanks to Josh for the heads up.
