Shout out to Son Raw over at Passion of the Weiss for the heads up on Israeli dancehall MC Miss Red, who just dropped her unbelievably dope, self-released debut mixtape, produced by The Bug and featuring riddims from Andy Stott, Evian Christ, and more. Check out the NSFW video for the thick-as-fuck title track below + download the whole tape for free here.
Nothing more subjective than picking your favorite Young Thug song in a year when the absurdly prolific rapper seemed to release a new mixtape, collab, or random-ass potential hit every week, so here are our personal top 5, at least until ThuggaXWapp drops (spoiler: at least 4 of these will be on our songs of 2015 list). No wrong answers in this case, so let us know what your list looks like, and if you're one of the last people on the planet still unable to get into Thugger — shout out to our SiriusXM show listeners — maybe this is a start? Here's another preview from Memoryhouse's forthcoming sophomore album Soft Hate, which is set to drop sometime early next year. Listen to the brooding "Arizona" below, and check out an animated clip for a dreamy little song that the group contributed to an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba that my kids have watched approximately 12 times since it debuted a couple weeks ago, and it never dawned on me that it was Memoryhouse until the band sent over the vid. Duh.
London dream-pop duo Still Corners unveil their twinkling new single: we've always felt these two would make the ideal house band for an '80s prom (hugest compliment, in my opinion) and the romantically swaying "Horses at Night" elicits the kind of bittersweet yearning that would make it a perfect, vaguely cinematic anthem for a final slow-dance. Edit: Probably not taken from the group's almost-finished third full-length, which is definitely due sometime in 2016. Visuals by Lucy Dyson:
