Those glowing previews from the other day hinted at the brilliance of Burial‘s new Truant EP, and now the London producer has dropped both of his latest devastating/sprawling multi-part suites a few days early. Listen to both new tracks by purchasing them from Hyperdub here. And this is why I guess we shouldn’t post our year-end lists until the year ends.

Great news to wake up to. Burial was already #1 on my top 10…
Where would these have placed in your end of year lists? (roughly)
not sure, i’ve only had them for a day but i think they’d certainly place somewhere
truant is a bit monotonous, i was expecting something more innovative following his mixes for massive attack and his kindred ep
i prefer rough sleeper (the sax helps too)
I demand a recount!!! where, Chris, does this stand in your top songs, and have you any thoughts on where Atoms of Peace – “Default” is? They have to be up there too…. :-)
I think this is one my favorites from burial, very conceptual…sounds like he finished a full length, pressed it to vinyl, listened to it, randomly dropped the needle on various sections, recorded that and released it as a two track ep.
I can’t get enough of it.
Yeah that’s a pretty good way to put it
so true! Looking forward to ‘get to know’ the concept behind the random pauses in the two tracks
All hail the KING!!! Agree with the above statements, this release def leaves me with questions. And with two EPs this year, I’m led to believe he has been working on a full release ::crosses fingers:: Either way, so glad to have anything this genius puts out
