The Austin Psych Fest recently announced a stellar first round of bands for next year’s fest, featuring the likes of Deerhunter, Clinic, Warpaint, Boris, Tinariwen, DIIV, King Khan & BBQ Show, White Fence + many more at an absolutely beautiful venue in Austin in April 2013. Our friends at the fest have hooked us up with a pair of weekend passes to give away: to win, just like the fest on Facebook + tell us who you’re most excited about seeing in the comments below, and I’ll pick a winner when the fest announces the next group of bands in January. Deerhunter! I caught them at Granada in Nov 2010, and it was the best show I’ve ever seen. I’ve caught Atlas Sound and Lotus Plaza a few times since and am constantly blown away by how much depth those guys can create with their instruments.

I can’t believe they’re getting GOAT to play all the way from Sweden. Would love to see that and the rest.

Beautiful guitar tones, wonderful sense of melody, one of the best rhythm sections around, great songwriters; what more could you ask for. Warpaint is going to bring it for sure and I would love to make my FIRST visit to Austin a wonderful one as I check out this incredible Festival and absorb all the great sounds.

I really cant wait to see Spectrum. I found out about them and Spacemen 3 at the same time (about a year ago) and kept getting the two confused, so I made a point to buy one album of each of theirs to differentiate. Something tells me I may not be able to see them again after Psychfest, so I’m glad ya’ll got them on the bill. Same goes for BJM last year. I soaked it up like a sponge cause you never know when a band that’s been around for that long is just gonna stop playing.

Warpaint! I’ve seen them live several times, and each concert has ranked within my favorites. Also The Black Angels. That dark psych, man.
By far I am most excited to see Spectrum (Sonic Boom/ Peter Kember). At psychfest 2011 they put on one of my all time favorite shows featuring a few Spacemen 3 songs and a few of Kember’s best songs of his own. They rarely play the USA so I highly recommend people checking them out. Also, Acid Mothers Temple are quite possibly the most energetic live show I’ve ever sen. Well done on the line-up this year guys! Absolutely choice! CAN NOT WAIT

WARPAINT!!!! My girlfriend and I drove through a blizzard from Eau Claire, WI to Minneapolis, MN two winters ago to see our beloved WARPAINT. After the 4 hour, white-knuckle drive we dropped to our knees with eyes full of tears, as we were at the venue’s front door and WARPAINT was stuck in North Dakota; the show was cancelled. We would do ANYTHING to see them!!!

My husband introduced me to Clinic when we first met and began dating. I loved them INSTANTLY!!!
I’m currently trying to figure out how to afford both tix and travel expenses (and a weekend babysitter!!!) so we can come out to the festival. We’ve been together now almost nine years, and since our daughter was conceived a couple years ago, we’ve barely gotten time to go out to dinner, let alone a vacation.
Seeing Clinic would be such a great throwback to our initially meeting, and seeing so many of the other bands, reminders of how our tastes have cultivated, both as individuals and as a couple.

Black Angels Again And Always.
Definitely, would love to see the black angels play again. Couldn’t think of a better “welcome to texas” gift. The warlocks are fantastic. Vietnam and spectrum. Wish BJM was playing.
Deerhunter and White Fence are top of list, but SO MANY great bands to catch!
If I got to see Deerhunter I would be pretty well set to die happy with no regrets! I would be honored to see Clinic, and chances are this is my only shot at it. I would be extremely happy to see particularly White Fence, The Growlers, King Khan & BBQ, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Spectrum, and Acid Mother’s Temple. The magnitude of this festival is unrivaled! What an incredible experience it would be! And there is more to come? How?! P.s. never havebeen to texas (:()

Its a great lineup… I do love the Growlers. They represent the best, I mean WEST coast oh so well. I have never had the pleasure and have long wanted to see Clinic. The girls of Warpaint never disappoint. Oh wait and White Fence ooohhh they are fun. King Khan will make me shake but if I have to pick… DEERHUNTER!!!
