Tamaryn delivers on all of the promise of their debut LP The Waves and then some on their excellent new full-length Tender New Signs, a moving, achingly gorgeous widescreen evolution of the duo’s “sky-gazing” dream pop. Listen to the record in its entirety below. Tender New Signs is out next week on clear vinyl via Mexican Summer, just in time for fall.

album cover a EGz rip?
Gem!
if I wanted to listen to a leather jacket, I would wear one. this is boring style songwriting. if that. show me a single song where an audible word can be eaten – I get it, you’ve got a great record collection.
but this says about as much as a potted plant.
in a smoke machine.
nah
LOL. true. wise words there.
Extremely disappointed with this. More of the same from the last album with no evolution.
maybe listen harder
I did. and i loved their debut. hence the dissapointment.
Leather jacket metaphor sucks. Sounds like you can write too though? Where’s your album? Unfortunate to read you can’t feel some badass tunes here. Guitars throughout this album are heavy enough for me to be coming back. The melodies are more enjoyable than their previous album as well. I really like this album from the listens I’ve put in.
Kinda want to know what elliot’s album of the year is then, because this is as close I can find to an album of the year candidate. Heavy, moving stuff. Groovin. Unfortunate you can’t feel a groove.
Thanks for the review, Squidward.
great atmosphere and modern shoegaze feel
“The Waves” is Tamaryn’s only good song. Everything else sounds the same.
So, you have listened to shoegaze and dream pop before, correct?
That is definitely not true…..Tamaryn has a lot of amazing songs off this LP. “I’m gone”, “When you’re sleeping, I’m dreaming”, “Heavenly Bodies”, “Prizma”, “The garden”,”Afterlight”, and “Violet’s in a pool”. Off their debut songs that were amazing were “The waves”, “Love fade”, “Mild Confusion”, “Sandstone”, and “Dawning”. They have tons of amazing songs…
if you feel like you don’t get it. well then you don’t. we do. enjoy whatever it is that you listen to.
Thanks for that. Plainly said and well-stated!
gives me cocteau twins vibes, which is a great thing
i have to agree.
Love! <3
Love + Respect!
Awesome album. I love it. The guitar and drum sounds are amazing.
It’s very derivative (could be lifted straight from 1992), but I like it, they know how to capture a mood..
