I just picked up this “swank” (Merge’s word) new Diplo remix over at the Merge Records digital store, and I can state unequivocally that it’s the best 99 cents I’ve spent all week. Diplo’s ethereal deconstuction of Spoon’s Natural History cover, “Don’t You Evah,” comes complete with Atari blips, synth stabs, and a bumping bassline, AND all proceeds benefit the TX Criminal Justice Coalition, so it’s a win-win for everyone involved. Especially the criminals. Plus it comes with a late contender for cover art of the year (see above). Buy it here.
