Nicolas Jaar's Don't Break My Love "prism" is one of our favorite releases of 2012, despite (or maybe partly because of) the fact that it was made available only as a tiny/limited/easily breakable $40 aluminum cube. That changes today, though, as Jaar's label Clown & Sunset has made the "virtual edition" of the record available digitally for only $7...

Literally everyone loved Nicolas Jaar's amazing, 2-hour Essential Mix for BBC that dropped back in May -- and rightfully so, as it's one of the most beautiful, adventurous mixes of 2012 -- and now the producer has generously uploaded the uninterrupted, BBC-free version to his label's soundcloud page...

Feels a little ridiculous calling Nicolas Jaar's The Prism one of our favorite releases of 2012 so far, as the tracks come housed in a tiny, fragile (ours already broke), very cool looking $40 aluminum cube that most people won't be able to hear until Jaar decides to release all of these tracks digitally...

Just copped one of these, easily the best or worst purchase I'll make today: a self-contained aluminum "prism" of music -- "a collection of lost memories" -- from Nico Jaar's own Clown & Sunset label, featuring a few unreleased Jaar tracks (including one with his Darkside collaborator Dave Harrington)...

Listen to all 3 tracks (click "playlist" in the player above) from the new EP from Nicolas Jaar's latest project (with Dave Harrington), Darkside. Jaar calls the record "the closest thing to rock & roll I’ve ever done," but these cosmic jams sort of recall a more minimalist take on the slower-burning, hypnotic, almost Balearic-tinged '70s grooves of dudes like Studio and A
