Danish songwriter + producer Fine Glindvad Jensen, aka Fine, crept into our hearts last year thanks to her work with her friends/fellow Copenhagen geniuses Erika de Casier and Smerz as vital contributors on NewJeans' smash hit Super Shy EP, which in turn led us to Fine's (pronounced 'feen-uh') own gorgeous debut single "A/B", a hazy, beautifully glowing, nocturnal pop ballad that became one of our favorite songs of 2023. (Another quick fun fact: those are Fine's vocals you hear on Two Shell's game-changing 2021 anthem "Home".) So it follows that we are extremely psyched to premiere the official lead single from Fine's stunning forthcoming debut LP Rocky Top Ballads, coming June 7 via Copenhagen label Escho (home to another brilliant 2024 release, Astrid Sonne's Great Doubt). The label calls the new album "the soundtrack to explorations in process and intuition", as Fine elegantly weaves an unadorned but rich and fully intoxicating tapestry of folk, country, and trip-hop into something ethereal and magical, conjuring a surreal sense of being there for Mazzy Star in 1994 gently ebbing into the future of experimental pop music. "The whole album is about the moments when you see a crack in something," Fine says of Rocky Top Ballads, “where you briefly see another side of yourself or of someone you've known forever."
