Paris born, L.A.-based artist Amélie Rousseaux, aka Sofia Bolt, shares the visuals for the lead single from her excellent new album Waves, a dreamy union of classic French pop and West Coast psych vibes, coming in 2019. We're told that Waves was recorded at Earth Wind & Fire’s original studio in L.A., with the legend Van Dyke Parks on arrangements, and a dream team consisting of Emily Elhaj (of Angel Olsen), Marian Lipino (of La Luz), Bryant Fox (of Miya Folick), and Itai Shapira (of Rhye) as her backing band. Sofia says the record "tells the journey of separation and reunion with oneself, of passion and sustainability, of disaster and of peace", and on the blistering, sardonic kiss-off to an ex-lover "Get Out of My Head", she throws us headfirst into all of those themes at once with swagger. Check the sick video, starring Sofia Bolt and her badass band + directed by Ryan Daniel Browne, below, and catch Sofia live at Zebulon in L.A. with Van Dyke Parks, Benjamin Booker, and Anna St. Louis this Sunday evening.
