We ran into NYC's Queen Majesty down in Austin at the Central Booking party, and she hooked us up with a copy of Trilla, her ill selection of "Jamaican dancehall covers of American '80s & '90s songs." In addition to the amazing album art and title, the whole mix is surprisingly great; highlights include covers of "Fast Car," "What's Love Got To Do," "Maniac," and a handful of Michael Jackson jams. It's safe to say this thing is going to be the soundtrack for at least a few BBQs and pool parties this summer:

Buy Trilla from Turntable Lab for only 9 bucks.

elsewhere:

The New York Times gives SXSW-related shouts to two of my favorite bands: White Denim ("a rocketing, punk-speed take on twangy Texas garage-rock") and Bodies of Water ("a starker Arcade Fire").

brand new:

Check Diplo's official remix of Kanye's "Flashing Lights."

finally:

Sports Illustrated asked us to curate their official NCAA Tourney playlist, and of course, we obliged. SI's Luke Winn will be posting an mp3 a day along with his unbelievably in-depth tourney coverage. Yesterday's pick: Del's "Bubble Pop," naturally.
