We are pleased to present an intimate evening with Toronto's Great Lake Swimmers at Dallas' own Bend Studio on Sunday, June 17th. With a capacity of only 85, Bend Studio is an ideal venue for the Swimmers, whose majestic Ongiara LP remains one of the more underappreciated albums of 2007. Here's Ongiara's ode-to-the-Canadian wilderness opening track:

Great Lake Swimmers Your Rocky Spine

Recommended for fans of Sufjan Stevens' Seven Swans, Sun Kil Moon, and of course, the Canadian wilderness. L.A.'s Eleni Mandell opens. Purchase tickets here.

Finally:

The new Black Dice 12" that just came out on Paw Tracks has us simultaneously intrigued and confused as we attempt to decide if we're cool enough to like this sort of thing. 20 Jazz Funk Greats makes a pretty valid attempt to explain it to us, but we can assure you this video of the band debuting the A-side "Roll Up" on Peruvian TV show "Jammin'" gets increasingly hypnotic the longer you watch it.
