mp3 premiere:
Puro Instinct – “Silky Eyes”
Here's another highlight from Puro Instinct's Headbangers in Ecstasy, still our favorite full-length of 2011 so far: “Silky Eyes” displays the group’s knack for crafting songs with deceptively complex structures, in which ethereal, in-the-clouds dream-pop seamlessly morphs into shimmering, soft focus disco-lite and jangly post-punk in just over 3 minutes. Or as their label puts it, "think Fleetwood Mac, Bobb Trimble, and Lush in a champagne filled jacuzzi -- but with a bit more sparkle and smog." Look for a video for this one in the near future:
Headbangers in Ecstasy is out next week on Mexican Summer. To celebrate, the label has hooked us up with one limited edition Puro "super bundle" that includes the following: a Headbangers limited edition LP (ed. of 200, hand numbered, screen printed jacket), HiE on cd, a Stilyagi 7 ", Puro t-shirt, zine, poster, and since this is V-Day, a box of chocolates. To enter, just leave your favorite love jam in the comments, and we'll pick a winner on February 22, the record's release date. Catch the band at their Flaunt-presented L.A. record release party on February 28.
UPDATE: contest closed on February 22, congrats to winner Pia Haukali.
