Mirrorring is the new dream collaboration between Liz Harris of Grouper + Jesy Fortino of Tiny Vipers, two artists whose respective solo works have been among the most haunting and affecting releases of the last few years. Their pensive, often devastating new record Foreign Body was born of a songwriting session in Harris' hometown of Portland sometime last year, and has subsequently become our go-to late night/dream soundtrack over the past month or so. The beautifully murky, spectral album opener "Fell Sound" is, ostensibly, mostly Grouper, but as Mirrorring's label puts it, "one could try to assess what part of the album each artist was responsible for, but that would prevent one from seeing the proverbial forest for the trees." Foreign Body is due March 19 on Kranky.
