Mk.gee announces new album + shares “Dream police”
We officially have our first AOTY contender of 2024: the genre-defying, Jersey born, LA-based singer, producer, and future guitar legend Mk.gee's Two Star and the Dream Police is coming next month, and while we absolutely loved the handful of legitimately great singles he released last year -- all of which are featured on the LP -- we weren't quite ready for how hard this thing was going to hit. It's a subtle but significant evolution and step up for Mk.gee, as he taps into something exceedingly rare in pop music these days: a singular, wholly distinctive sound that feels sentimental and vaguely familiar but raw and just a little ominous and unhinged, tinged with a visceral longing and darkness, and elevated by low-key brilliant songwriting that bridges the shadowy liminal space between Springsteen and Jai Paul. Check the hazy new single "Dream police", with a glowing video directed by Danica Arias Kleinknecht, below + pre-order the album here.
