It's fun when a song that has been so incessantly hyped -- and was, by any measure, already a hit before it was even finished -- ends up being as good as you'd hoped. Maryland's Maggie Rogers shares the beautiful finished version of her undeniable viral sensation "Alaska", on which she manages to organically combine her impressive, more traditional folk music background with the "energy of dance music" to create a pulsing, heartfelt pastoral-dance-pop gem that reminds me of the time Amelia Randall Meath transformed her former group Mountain Man's a capella folk hymn "Play It Right" into a full-on Sylvan Esso banger.
