Voodoo Festival '08 had more than its share of highlights, including the Dirtbombs, TV On The Radio, another inspired set by an extremely pregnant Erykah Badu, and my personal favorite performance of the weekend, courtesy of the Black Godfather. But the local kid was obviously the big draw this year, and with the setting sun as his backdrop, Weezy delivered an animated and enthusiastic Tha Carter III-heavy set for his adoring hometown crowd. I don't think I've read one positive review of Telepathe's live show, but based on the only two songs I've heard from them (see below), I'm pretty interested in checking them out on the Mad Decent megatour. Also, I'm a big fan of the band's "sell the vinyl-only single/give the mp3 away for free" approach, and it appears to be working out well. The Chrome's On It 7" has long since sold out, and the new(er) Devil's Trident single is available now via Merok:
