Montreal's Helena Deland shares the final single ahead of the release of her brilliant debut album Someone New, coming next Friday, October 16th. Helena says "Pale" is about, "the little space left to the actual self in romantic relationships where idealization comes into play", and the song explores that dynamic in haunting fashion, highlighted by eerily creeping (but funky!) synths and Helena's mesmerizing vocals and lowkey devastating turns of phrase. Also, it bangs. Helena adds, "It talks about the fear of being eternally unsatisfied and ultimately dispossessed of my identity in trying to construct it around/through my partner's/the male gaze." Listen below + buy the album on limited milky clear vinyl here, and get your ticket for Helena's streamed album launch show, happening live on Bandcamp on Monday the 19th.
