From Paavoharju to Lau Nau, some of the most beautiful, enchantingly bizarre pop music I've posted about this year has come from an unlikely source: the Nordic nation of Finland, and more specifically, the wonderful Fonal label. This admittedly has something to do with my fascination with the Finnish language; it's not exactly graceful, and at times it can even be a little jarring, but it has an entirely alien quality about it that I find really endearing. Anyway, here are a couple more weird-ass Finnish artists that I've been digging lately:

Lauri from Paavoharju told me about his friend Joose Keskitalo, and his new LP, Joose Keskitalo ja Kolmas Maailmanpalo. Keskitalo, who sings on some of Paavoharju's newer material, may look like Jens Lekman's slightly disturbed older brother, but his delicate, sentimental, and at times sinister (I'm projecting, here) pop music transcends the language barrier. Here are a couple of songs from the album; I would recommend purchasing it, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet, as Fonal is currently sold out (thanks to Moka for the mp3).
