Beirut's The Flying Club Cup has earned the designation of my official record of Fall. I didn't expect to love it this much, but the enthusiasm and respect with which Zach Condon tackles his obvious affection for baroque Parisian pop is refreshing and undeniably infectious. That Blogotheque video with Ed Droste didn't hurt either. Condon and the band recently played a number of the album's standout tracks live on KEXP. Here are a few of my favorites:

Alela Diane stopped by Daytrotter's Rock Island studios earlier this summer for an encore to her jawdropping SXSW session. Previously unreleased numbers "Age Old Blue" and "The Alder Trees" are must listens, but the whole session is pretty special.
