Please welcome Brooklyn band Barrie to GvsB today -- if you've been checking the site at all this year, you might be familiar -- and follow along as they share some of their favorite things throughout the day. The group's excellent Singles 12" is out today on limited baby blue vinyl via Winspear. To kick things off, Barrie would like this Penguin Cafe Orchestra classic to be stuck in your head all day:

My parents listened to Penguin Cafe Orchestra all the time while I was growing up, and Signs of Life has remained one of my favorite albums. I watch the videos from this BBC session every couple months and think about writing an album like this some day. Apparently Simon Jeffes found a harmonium someone left in an old building, and the G was broken / permanently sustained, so he wrote the song around the constant G. -- Barrie
