bambinodj – Silent Dispatch

This one flew under the radar amidst a flurry of great Valentine's Day releases last week, but bambinodj's stellar debut album Silent Dispatch has been on repeat around here for the last few days. His label OST described the record to me in an email as "balearic afrobeat or trancehall, amapiano from a dream", an intriguing and lofty description that turned out to be spot on. It's a floating, utterly entrancing record with a surreal otherworldly shimmer, and it makes a perfect ethereal post-club companion to Oklou's album-of-the-year contender choke enough.
