The highlight of the weekend for us was without a doubt the Arcade Fire Austin City Limits television taping. The ACL studios were transformed into blogger central (Stereogum, La Blogotheque, IGIF, MOKB, YANP, and Aquarium Drunkard were all in attendance), and the band played a full set that pulled equally from Funeral and Neon Bible (see setlist below). Our front row, side-stage seats -- we were the first ones in line because we are nerds -- offered us the rare chance to experience the best live band in the world from literally less than five feet away.

Highlights of the hour-long set included Regine screaming right into our faces through her megaphone, then killing said megaphone by slamming it to the ground and shattering it at our feet. Definitely one of the more memorable show-going experiences in recent memory. Other notable moments: every song from Funeral, Win demanding the crowd to "Stand the fuck up" on national television, the overpowering organ to kick off "Intervention," and watching the Blogotheque guys lead the frenzied dance party on the floor. Despite having to dodge flying debris from shattered megaphones, drumsticks, and other assorted broken shit (thanks Will Butler), it was was an exhilarating experience that won't soon be forgotten. Thanks to Maury and the great people at ACL/KLRU for their hospitality. We'll keep you posted on when this will air, because you don't want to miss it. UPDATE: The Arcade Fire taping will air on November 10 on most PBS stations.
