We've been big fans of New Zealand sisters Valentine + Clementine Nixon aka Purple Pilgrims since we heard their beautiful debut on Not Not Fun a few years back, an enchanting, hazy collection of what the duo calls "ancient imagery expressed through a modern lens – folks songs played on synthesized instruments." Their excellent new record Perfumed Earth -- which the sisters say is "kind of like a rebirth", and features contributions from Gary War and Roy Montgomery, among others -- finds the group at a newfound peace, exploring a more meditative, widescreen version of their alluring natural mysticism, culminating in the swooning, soaring album centerpiece and highlight "Two Worlds Apart". The group had these somewhat cryptic words to say about the track: "Swelled hearts will fall like fruit". Watch the lovely video, directed by W.A.M Bleakley and starring Valentine & Clementine, below. Perfumed Earth is out August 9th via the great Flying Nun Records.
