video: Anemone – Endless Dive
We've been enamored lately with songs both new and old(er) from Anemone, the swirling, immersive psychedelic pop project from Montreal's Chloé Soldevila. If you're unfamiliar, the group's whimsical and chilly visuals for their subtly sprawling reverie "Endless Dive" is an ideal starting point. Chloé tells us why she chose to set the video for such a decidedly sunny and dreamy West Coast psych odyssey -- shot + directed by Ariane Falardeau St-Amour of Montreal's ROCOCO collective -- in the frosty climes of Quebec:
Although being inspired by the iconography of the beach, ocean, and desert, for the purpose of the piece Endless Dive, it had to be different. The music video takes place in an icy and snowy field and was shot entirely on film one year ago in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, on my father’s land which holds such a precious place in my heart. To me, snow and ice are royal and mysterious compared to the luscious sun and it seemed like a perfect way to represent the fierceness of women. That’s what "Endless Dive" is about; being powerful and carrying the warmth of sunshine anywhere one goes, even in opposite conditions. It was such a blast to invent, style and produce with my talented filmmaker friend Ariane Falardeau St-Amour and her team, surrounded by my best girl friends. It is a moment frozen in time we shall never forget ;)
Anemone will soon embark on a North American tour, starting with this weekend's Megaphono Festival in Ottawa, followed by dates across the U.S. with Common Holly, Faith Healer, and Video Age, as well as a journey down to Austin for SXSW:
