Tei Shi x Gorilla vs. Bear takeover: Sean Nicholas Savage – The Rat

I think I might be one of Sean’s biggest fans. I think he is so great in such an indescribable way. I played a show with him in Montreal last year and that was my first time seeing him...it was unlike any live experience I’ve had before, his performance feels like a Lynchian dream. For any artist whose ‘oddness’ or quirkiness might come off as a gimmick, Sean’s feels just purely true and unadulterated. And his music is so great. That’s the thing, his music is so fucking good, without being one thing or another. I think I’ve listened to his song “She Looks Like You” more than any other song this year. It kind of sounds like Phil Collins in a world where Phil Collins is the antithesis of what Phil Collins is in our world. This video puts me in a weird place that I really like. -- Tei Shi
