Bonnie Banane – Statue

Can't get enough of this new one from Paris hybrid electro-R&B artist Bonnie Banane (somewhere "between Aaliyah and André Rieu"): "ugly/breakup/song" "STATUE" is a fun and very infectious kiss-off to an ex-lover, produced by Banane's regular collaborator Gautier Vizioz...

stream Laure Briard’s Sur la Piste de Danse

Toulouse's Laure Briard just dropped a gorgeous new LP of bright and romantic French pop -- which we've previously compared to Stereolab and the ’60s golden age of vintage French pop -- with sounds ranging from the decidedly psych-rock vibes of tracks like "Que reste-t-il" and "Dalida", to the shuffling, classic Françoise Hardy feel of gems like "Je Vole" and "Chat"...

listen to 4 enchanting unreleased tracks from Melody’s Echo Chamber

We haven't heard from Paris' Melody Prochet in a minute, aside from the dreamy "Shirim", which was one of our favorite tracks of 2014, and whose official existence sadly seems to have been scrubbed from the internet for some unknown reason (you can, and should, still seek it out through unofficial channels though, because it rules)...

Laure Briard – Toi et Moi

Laure Briard follows up last year's lovely Révélation with the sublime and classic-sounding lead single from her forthcoming new LP, recalling the '60s golden age of vintage French pop. Sur la Piste de Danse is out June 24th on Paris label Midnight Special. Video by Michelle Blades. You can check the album's closing track "Laure" (shades of Gainsbourg et Birkin) below as well:

check out Paris duo Syracuse’s hypnotic LIQUID SILVER DREAMS

From the Paris label that brought us Domenique Dumont's enchanting Comme Ça EP earlier this year comes more hypnotically aquatic vibes — the label says "it seems that the whole album has been recorded in some secret cave under the sea", so let's go with that — from Parisian synth-pop duo Syracuse...

Leon Bridges plays a stunning rendition of “River” in Paris for La Blogothéque

Leon Bridges & the Chandeliers play a beautiful stripped-down version of his timeless song "River" just behind Notre-Dame in Paris, for our old friends La Blogothéque.

Panda Bear takeover: Little Dragon – Paris

Here’s a recent one from this Swedish band. I like the singing a lot and really like how they go the extra mile to craft synth sounds. They also don’t seem to let the machines do the work which i can appreciate...

premiere: Yumi Zouma – Alena

Yumi Zouma came out of nowhere early this year with an EP of softly shimmering, twilit dream-disco that was so pitch-perfect (right down to the cover art; some might even suggest it was 'custom-built' for us) that it almost felt like it was destined to be a fluke, a debut that was surely the result of some kind of serendipitous long-distance magic that a young group has trouble ever recapturing. We are psyched to report, however, that this is not the case: the band's gorgeous, sentimental new single "Alena" is the most disco thing the Yumis have ever done, and by the time singer Kim Pflaum hits that swooning, bittersweet refrain -- "Come over here and dance with me / it’s true that you will never see me feel better" -- it also feels like their shining/defining pop moment. Yumi Zouma's Alena single is out today on Cascine.

YZ goes on tour later this month with their fellow New Zealander Lorde, followed by an appearance at Iceland Airwaves + a few U.S. shows in November. Check all of their dates after the jump...

Juniore – La fin du monde

Thanks to Yumi Zouma for the heads up this afternoon on their "new favourite band", Paris' Juniore, and their elegant, haunting '60s French pop-noir vibes, which have been described as sounding like "...
