Stranger Things 3 is almost here, and you can now stream the new season's awesome original score by S U R V I V E's Kyle Dixon + Michael Stein, which the duo says "feels more like a stand-alone record than a collection of brief cues" (check the sick "Starcourt" mall theme song for evidence in support of that feeling). Listen to the epic 41-track score in its entirety below:
I can't recall any film/television score's release being as feverishly anticipated as this one: volume one of the Stranger Things OST, the perfect soundtrack for "bike rides and monster hunts", courtesy of Kyle Dixon + Michael Stein of Texas band S U R V I V E, officially drops tomorrow on Lakeshore Records...
Like seemingly everyone else on the internet, we're currently obsessed with the new Spielberg-meets-Stephen King '80s nostalgia trip / Netflix original series Stranger Things. One of the elements that makes the show so great is the perfectly eerie atmospheric score, which was created by Kyle Dixon + Michael Stein of Austin band S U R V I V E. Their score elicits the same sense of wonder and dread as John Carpenter's classic film scores, Tangerine Dream's best horror scores, and more recent brilliant throwback scores from Disasterpeace (It Follows) and Cliff Martinez. Listen to the Stranger Themes main theme -- along with an awesome extended version that someone upped to youtube -- below, and look out for a new S U R V I V E record coming soon on Relapse (in the meantime, you can hear a recent track from the group here):
