Gorilla vs. Bear V goes down next week here in TX, and for the fifth year in a row, Dallas' own DJ Sober (who will be DJ'ing between sets all night at both GvsB shows) has hooked up the official mix to get us even more psyched for the occasion. This year's tape — featuring all of the acts playing this year's sold-out shows (Jamie xx, Lower Dens, Tei Shi, Bop English, Yumi Zouma + Prince Innocence), a couple GvsB alums (Panda Bear, Empress of), and a bunch of other stuff we're into at the moment — is arguably the best one yet, and is essentially an hour-long glitter-wavy summer jam. Listen/download below, check the tracklist after the jump, and look for this one to potentially make its way to cassette at some point in the near future...

Our girl Faith Silva is making her way over to España this week for the 2015 Primavera Sound festival, which takes place in Barcelona from Wednesday, May 27th through Saturday, May 30th. The Primavera folks consistently put together incredibly diverse and adventurous lineups, and this year's dream bill is no exception: Panda Bear, Shabazz Palaces, the Strokes, Kelela, James Blake, Viet Cong, Caribou, the Vaselines, Ride, Ariel Pink, Mac Demarco, Patti Smith (performing Horses), Tyler the Creator, HEALTH, Jon Hopkins, Sleater-Kinney, RATATAT, Underworld, Spiritualized, and so many more will convene in Parc del Fòrum for the 4-day fest, starting tomorrow...
Austin Psych Fest's LEVITATION 2015 is getting palpably close (next weekend!), and today we're debuting another great official fest mixtape by Al Lover, featuring tracks from HEALTH, Las Robertas, Tamaryn, Thee Oh Sees, Primal Scream, the Jesus and Mary Chain + others, and that's just from Saturday's lineup (listen to the Friday mixtape, featuring Tame Impala, Spiritualized, and more, here).
Check the full tracklist after the jump, and let us know which bands you're most excited to see in the comments below to enter to win a pair of weekend fest passes AND tix to the official LEVITATION kickoff party next Thursday at the Mohawk, featuring Ariel Pink, Octopus Project, and more.
There aren't many better ways I can think of to start off a Monday morning than with a surprise mix from one of our favorite artists: Chaz Bundick of Toro y Moi sent over this sweet lil' 33-minute mix made up of some of the wide-ranging sounds that (presumably) inspired his excellent, decidedly rocking, and diverse new record, which we've had on repeat all weekend. Featuring tracks from Ride, Wire, the Five Stairsteps, Drake, Tearjerker -- whose "You Can" might be my new favorite jam -- Chaz's Sides of Chaz side-project, and more. Listen to Toro y Moi's GvsB mix below, and check the full tracklist after the jump.
We've already established that next year's Austin Psych Fest presents: LEVITATION 2015 lineup is really great, from the Jesus and Mary Chain doing Psychocandy on down to Costa Rican girl-gang garage rippers Las Robertas, and a ton of amazing bands in between. We don't expect anyone to take our word for it though, and nothing illustrates the quality of next year's fest better than this 90-minute mixtape (from SF DJ + producer Al Lover) featuring EVERY SINGLE BAND on the massive lineup. "It's the end of the year, so to commemorate the global underground touring we did— to all the people who were interested in coming to and putting on a Blue Hawaii show in Bangkok or Vilnius— we decided to put together a free mixtape of edits — somewhere between the dreamy record and the banging live show...
