Shout out to Chaz Bundick for the heads up on the latest signee to his label Company Records, Oakland's Madeline Kenney, and her forthcoming new EP, recorded with Chaz in his Berkeley studio. Madeline's bandcamp bio says of her self-described "twang-hazy dream pop": "It's like if Loretta Lynn had a secret shoegaze project and an obsession with a looper pedal"...
There aren't many better ways I can think of to start off a Monday morning than with a surprise mix from one of our favorite artists: Chaz Bundick of Toro y Moi sent over this sweet lil' 33-minute mix made up of some of the wide-ranging sounds that (presumably) inspired his excellent, decidedly rocking, and diverse new record, which we've had on repeat all weekend. Featuring tracks from Ride, Wire, the Five Stairsteps, Drake, Tearjerker -- whose "You Can" might be my new favorite jam -- Chaz's Sides of Chaz side-project, and more. Listen to Toro y Moi's GvsB mix below, and check the full tracklist after the jump.
Les Sins' debut LP Michael is out November 4.
We handed the boys in Toro y Moi an old camera + some film from our friends at the Impossible Project and asked them to document their tour for us, and they came through in pretty spectacular fashion. Check out their photos from TX, South America, and elsewhere around the world; all captions/images by Toro y Moi's Patrick Jeffords (unless he's in it):
