GORILLA VS. BEAR MODERN YACHT ROCK 2019 SUMMER MIX
Presenting the fourth annual installment in our series of modern yacht rock summer mixtapes: this year's mix was loosely inspired and guided by Light in the Attic's absurdly dope Pacific Breeze compilation of late '70s and early '80s Japanese City Pop that dropped this spring, which the label says lands in some nebulous zone encompassing "easy listening with mutant exotica, tilted techno-pop, and steamy boogie bubbling beneath the gloss". Modern torchbearers of the classic soft-rock spirit sit alongside vaporwave-y remixes, contemporary covers of yacht rock staples, and obscure City Pop gems in the mix, paired with what we believe is the hottest and most on-point cover art we've rolled out in quite some time.
