Beautiful new video from Brighton’s Fear of Men, who continue to make our hearts swell with every move, for their bittersweet single “Seer,” which remains one of the most achingly pretty things we’ve heard this year. Fitting, dream-like visuals — starring Jessica Weiss as spectral beekeeper — directed by Falvey and Weiss with Williams / Tardo. “Seer” is taken from the band’s wonderful singles collection Early Fragments. Fear of Men will play Festival NRML in Monterrey with Ariel Pink, Main Attrakionz and more this weekend before heading up to TX for SXSW.

This song sounds like every terrible self-recorded demo I used to get handed in the ’90s. Guess the ’90s really are back!
right. i suspect you just have garbage taste, but send me any demos you have that sound like this and i’ll post those too
Not being a dick chris; this just really sounds exactly like what it is: a boring, flatly-sung and poorly produced track that I’d forget about in a minute or so. Perspective. History. Context. I’ve heard a lot of records.
And yeah, you’d probably say I have garbage taste but I’d expect that from someone who put Grimes at the top of the “Best of” list – different tastes are different tastes and that’s to be expected. If that makes mine garbage I guess I’ll live with it. Really appreciate the unnecessary ad-hominem attack though.
Sorry, I guess turnabout is fair. You may savage my band here: http://thereisnoteenagelove.bandcamp.com/
Friends?
etokle, ‘seer’ is a really great song. Fear of Men are a really, really great band. And you’re really, really, really great advertising your shit band.
Davos, thanks (I guess); I’m not trying to advertise my shit band, but I do appreciate the comment.
I take back what I said: Fear of Men is probably a perfectly wonderful group of people and I’ve judged them based on the single track offered here (which is more or less what you’ve judged my shit band on I imagine). Personally, I didn’t like the track and thought I’d comment.
From now on I’ll run my opinions through the Approved Band Taste Registry™ prior to any additional posting here.
your sarcastic “Approved Band Taste Registry™” just shows how little you understand about blogs like this. You are allowed to hate anything you want. You are allowed to make a blog and post what you hate or only things that YOU like. You can use any of YOUR social networks to shit talk anything you want but Chris has a specific taste here at Gorilla Vs Bear. People come to this blog because their taste at least roughly lines up with his. Your negative comment isn’t just floating in space it’s in a context and the context is “Hey guys that have decided they like what i like listen to XXXX I love this song”. To then shit talk means you are being a negative nancy. Sorry to use such strong language but the reason people jump down your throat here is because of that negative nancy-ism (again, sorry). If you tweeted or blogged about how you didn’t care for this band people wouldn’t care as much or at all.
All good and fair points. Guess I was surprised not to like this since the description sounded like something I would absolutely love. I’ve been reading GvsB for years and believe it or not I nearly always like what Chris features (aside from Grimes).
Learned my lesson not to be a dick up in here.
you’re doing it again.
They sound so refreshing and so nostalgic at the same time, I love it!!
Give the poor guy a break, I thought he made more of a knock at himself than the band. And I’m gonna have to agree with him a little at the risk of getting backlash. This song/video is kinda boring. The band can be great (etokle check out the song Green Sea for more proof). But this one just didn’t catch me. Chris, we are all here because we love (most) of what you share with us. And etokle for what it’s worth, I like your band! Maybe that’s just my shit taste. Lol.
Right on MuZack, thanks. And good call on that Green Sea track; had I heard that song first I would’ve be into these guys. Strong track, engaging production, interesting video – good stuff all around.
