Ariel Pink and Dām-Funk team up to cover one of our favorite slow jams of all time, and they come correct with a smoldering, fairly faithful rendition of the lost classic — the second such beautiful, reverential cover of “Baby” by a couple of weirdos in 2012 — with some perfectly placed Flamingos-style shoo-bop shoo-bops thrown in for good measure. Ariel says:

“‘Baby’ has been a staple on just about every playlist/mixtape I’ve assembled in the past 3 years. It is nothing short of sublime.”

Us too! All three “Babies” on repeat forever. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti’s Mature Themes is out August 21 on 4AD. In related news, Donnie + Joe Emerson‘s 1979 LP Dreamin’ Wild is being reissued next week by Light in the Attic, and it sounds amazing.
