Listen to all 3 tracks (click “playlist” in the player above) from the new EP from Nicolas Jaar’s latest project (with Dave Harrington), Darkside. Jaar calls the record “the closest thing to rock & roll I’ve ever done,” but these cosmic jams sort of recall a more minimalist take on the slower-burning, hypnotic, almost Balearic-tinged ’70s grooves of dudes like Studio and A Mountain of One. Recommended. The Darkside EP is out now on Jaar’s own Clown & Sunset.

Takes a little while to get into the first song, but well worth it. Haunting and spacey but driving just the same. Great recommendation.
this is good! a very accessible departure from the norm for jaar.
A2 is sinister badassery
Really surprised me how much I liked this. Very good!
funkeh shet
Nice comparison to Studio considering Dan Lissvik’s great solo album from a few years ago listed the tracks as A1, A2, A3, etc.
best music in 10+ years
