it’s hard to appreciate that she admits she is a performer being shaped and sold by producers. I would love to believe this song came from personal inspiration. That said, this song is undeniably beautiful.

The content, the music, the performance, it has gravity. A future classic.

Jeez, I’m glad I’m a girl and I get to like her, and whoever, w/o people making me feel like I’m wrong. Ha, you boys- like who you want to like, no matter what people think.

She’s so fragile and sweet. Anyone can see it’s real and sincere. Of course she’s a bit nervous at first, who wouldn’t be under all this scrutiny. Plus she’s there giving her first real tv-performance after Peter effin’ Gabriel. What’s there not to love?
Haters are going to hate, but Lana Del Rey has created two of the most buzzworthy indie songs of the year. That should stand for something. This performance is more “live” than her last one, so props to her. She does seem slightly nervous though.
the song is amazing. the performance makes it that much better. the apparent growth in her personal confidence over the course of 3.5 minutes is really impressive, whether you believe it manufactured or not.
can’t wait for my 7″. hopefully i got in in time for the signed copy.

oh yeah she definitely sounded nervous. but should i not be able to criticize the fact that she can’t even sing the notes in her own song?
honestly i don’t want to sound like i hate the girl or her music. it doesn’t matter how divisive anyone thinks she is. it doesnt matter that she might just be the creation of a greedy record executive. are people really just listening to music because it’s hip and authentic? will people stop listening to lana del rey when they play her music in commercials? its art. judge it. assholes

Lana del Ray is bullish she came back with a cover, and she sounds like part of the titanic sound track

I love how the closest thing to a divisive comment I can find on that twitter link is people saying she is divisive.

It’s so divisive because we are in a shifting point in music, especially indie. Get ready

pretty? she could sweep the floor with her, uh eyelashes, and her lips look like a valve needs to be released to let some air out. shall we talk about the clear face surgery that she’s had? ok, but aside from her looks, lets talk about her talent and appeal. to that, all i have to say is that she should have been on American Idol. get her out of the indie news already.
absolutely, snobbery at it’s worst. who cares what classification of music and what she looks like. make up your own mind but don’t base it on stupid arrogance.

Lana Del Rey is absolute rubbish. She is a vapid-hottie-hipster version of Fiona Apple. The lyrics read like pages out of a rich white girls poetry journal, the underlying theme of slutty heartbreak. Her style is sell out sultry, and the music videos are absolute pieces of shit. The amateur look is not cool, and the home videos are not endearing.
I can’t figure out why they insist on posting stuff on her. Did they sell out, or is this just an issue of bad taste.
I love this song, taken out of context it’s awesome and people are only hating because it has got the *hipster* tag

I do like hearing her voice, that’s for damn sure. I could’ve done without the bad taste of seeing her video first. I remember when I first heard this, (I think I commented on the first GVB post of the video) I remember being bugged by the lyrics because the song leans so much on vocals, but the lyrics seemed rather weak to me. Now I see the appeal; her voice is just so damn beautiful that I don’t give a shit bout the rest.

it’s definitely an issue of bad taste. yours. HEYO
I get all the comparisons to Nancy Sinatra, but am I the only one who thinks she also has a kind of medieval Kate Bush sound to her voice?
go play your video game (ie you hipsters)

Sounds like Emmylou Harris at times. Which is nice.
