I feel like it was kind of unprofessional of your blog and disrespectful to Shabazz to be basically informing people of Black Up’s leak for months now. Ever since you guys, months ago, called it the album of the year, it was obvious to any reader that it had leaked. Really not cool. I dont see you guys really doing that with any other album, and it sucks that you did it to his. Literally months before it came out you guys were saying how great it was and not implying that you had an advanced copy from the artist himself, but that you had a leak. And now you have post the NPR stream. HAHA.
nah, we didn’t have a leak. as far as I know, it didn’t leak until recently, we got a copy from the group at SXSW
My bad about the double post, I didnt think it was working. Delete the latter one if you want please. Maybe next time you should clarify that you got an advanced copy (did you say that?), because when i saw that you had posted about it and called it album of the year, I checked for the leak and it was out and easily locatable, and I sort of assumed that its where you guys had got it from because I didnt ever see anything about an advanced copy. Thanks for responding.

Because when an album is declared AOTY year 5 months before release date, stream, or knowledge of a leak, naturally people check to see because “it must be out there somewhere”.

Definitely one of the best listens. Hope I was one of the first 400 to preorder. I need to get that Palaceer patch!!

Interesting conversation above. I don’t think it’s a matter of whether or not it was leaked or shared with the blog. My issue is with the amount of hype given to this record. I love this blog and my hopes for this were very high because I read you all the time. I’m sorry but this album does not hold a torch to either Digable record, or even most of the SP e.p. material. I really dug that you had a hip hop record as AOTY a few years back, because that one deserved it. This is a forward thinking record, but that’s it. Musically, it’s interesting at best, and I can’t see it holding up over the years. I’ll give it a few more listens, because it deserves that. I’m sure I’ll come around, but right now, it just doesn’t hit.
